For the truly adventurous and dedicated try this blended delight for your Fourth of July celebration. This is another red, white and blue layered cocktail with a nice tropical and “pop” flair.

Ingredients:
Blue Layer:
2 cups of ice cubes
G2 Gatorade Blueberry-Pomegranate
¼ cup lime juice
2 tablespoons blue curacao liqueur
2 tablespoons white rum
2 tablespoons of sugar

Red Layer:
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/3 cup blue passion fruit Kinky liqueur
1 cup watermelon chunks, frozen
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons of wh ite rum
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup of ice cubes

White Layer:
1 cup of coconut sorbet or Ice cream
¼ cup of rum
2 tablespoons of lime juice
1 cup of ice cubes
Instructions:
Start with the blue layer. Put 1 ½ cups of ice cubes into the blender, add the passion fruit liqueur, lime juice, blue curacao, rum and sugar. Blend until slushy and there are no chunks of ice left. Add the remaining ½ cup of ice if needed and finish blending. Transfer to a large measuring cup or a small bowl and place it in the freezer while prepping the next layer.

Next we will work on the red layer. Rinse out your blender and then add frozen strawberries, watermelon, lime juice, rum and sugar. Blend until slushy and there are no chunks of fruit. With the motor running add the ice, a few cubes at a time until thick and smooth. Stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons of water if the consistency is too thick. Transfer to another small bowl and place in the freezer while making the final layer.

We finish with the white layer. Rinse out the blender once again and then add the coconut sorbet, rum and lime juice. Blend until smooth and thick. With the motor running add the ice a few cubes at a time and continue to blend until it is thick and no ice bits are left.

Pour the red layer into the bottom of a six 8 ounce glasses, about 1/3 cup each. Gently spoon 1/3 cup of the blue layer over the red layer so they are separate. Finish by spooning 1/3 cup of the white layer over the second layer in each glass.

Patriotic Punch Ingredients

Ingredients:
3-ounce vodka
1 ounce Blue Curacao
2 1/2 ounce unfiltered apple juice
1 1/2 ounce lime juice
jicama
raspberries

Instructions:
Let’s prepare the jicama first. Cut a jicama in half and save the other half in the fridge. Lay the cut side down on a cutting board. Use a chef’s knife to cut down at an angle to cut the skin off. You will take a bit of the jicama with it but that can’t be helped. Now you have a skinned jicama. Keep the jicama with the cut side down and make slices that are about 1/4″ thick. See the photo for an idea of the thickness. Now push straight down with a small star cookie cutter. Put all of the jicama stars and pieces in a container such as a measuring cup and cover them with water. They will keep days in the fridge like this. Now for our cocktail. Mix the vodka, Blue Curacao, apple juice, lime juice together. It’s potent! Fill a tall glass with ice and intersperse with a few raspberries and jicama stars. Pour the cocktail mix over the ice and serve with raspberries on a toothpick and a star on the rim. Happy holiday!
