But, don’t worry Fossil Creek Liquor includes your favorite bubbly in our Elder Flower Fizz recipe. As always you can choose to use our recommended Korbel Sparkling wine for this recipe or swap out the champagne of your choice. Real Hurricane

Real Hurricane

Real Hurricane

(Serves 1)
The Hurricane is a drink that originated in New Orleans, and is thus the perfect drink to serve at your Mardi Gras celebration. This drink has a colorful history as it was invented in the 1940s by the head bartender, Louis Culligan, of Pat O’Brien’s bar in New Orleans. In order to purchase the Whiskey that the bar actually wanted to sell their distributors required them to buy several cases of Rum. At the time Rum was a liquor that was not held in high regard. It was considered “cheap” and low quality. Louis came up with the Hurricane in an effort to get his customers to buy the Rum they had been forced to purchase. The drink quickly grew in popularity. Today, it is not always easy to get a “Real Hurricane” as most bars will serve you a pre-mixed overly syrupy concoction that has little in common with the original Hurricane as devised by Louis in New Orleans.

This year don’t settle for a bar’s “fake” Hurricane. Instead, try Fossil Creek’s The Real Hurricane recipe below. For more information on the history of the Hurricane and other beverages you can purchase Beach Bum Berry Remixed where we discovered the details to share with our Fossil Creek Liquor friends.
