Fossil Creek Liquor has a twist for your traditional New Year’s toast at midnight. While most people toast the New Year with a simple glass of champagne or sparkling wine we believe that variety is the spice of life. But, don’t worry Fossil Creek Liquor includes your favorite bubbly in our Elder Flower Fizz recipe. As always you can choose to use our recommended Korbel Sparkling wine for this recipe or swap out the champagne of your choice. Either way the addition of berry and elderflower flavors adds a delicious twist to a favorite classic toast.

Ingredients:
¾ oz. St. Germaine Elder Flower Cordial
1 oz. black raspberry liqueur
2 oz. Korbel Sparkling Wine
Top off with 7-up to taste

Instructions:
Pour 1 ounce of Potter’s Black Raspberry Liqueur into your champagne glass, ¾ ounce of St. Germaine’s Elderflower cordial, and 2 ounces of Korbel sparkling wine. Top off the glass with 7-up to taste.

Did you know that Fossil Creek Liquor is constantly having sales on our specialty liquors, beers, and fine wines? One of our January 2014 sale items is Malibu rum. When you hear about rum you may start envisioning a Mai Tai on the beach and we certainly are big fans of tropical rum based beverages at Fossil Creek Liquor. However, we want to our favorite winter cocktail that uses our Malibu Rum, now on sale at Fossil Creek Liquor. This is a quick and easy recipe and is sure to help keep out the chill on those cold winter days.

Ingredients:
1 part (50 ml) Malibu Rum (we recommend Malibu Winter Edition)
3 parts (150ml) apple juice
Cinnamon stick for garnish

Instructions:
Pour 1 part Malibu Rum into a glass. Heat the apple juice and add 3 parts heated apple juice into the glass. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Did you know that March 3 was National Mulled Wine Day? Winter has been harsh in North Texas this year, so we thought it would be particularly apropros to come up with a Fossil Creek Liquor Mulled Wine recipe in keeping with the holiday– perfect for those days and nights when you are bundled up indoors away from the wind, rain, snow and sleet!

Cocktail recipe for over 21 only. Please drink responsibly.

Ingredients:
1 orange, sliced and seeded
½ cup sugar
2 cups water
1 teaspoon ground cloves
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 bottle red wine such as Côtes du Rhône
(3-inch) cinnamon sticks and orange or lemon slices on side of cup or glass

Instructions:
Combine the orange, sugar, water, and spices in a large stainless steel or enameled pot. Slowly bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 15 minutes Reduce the heat, then add the wine, Slowly reheat but do not boil. Serve warm in mugs. You may garnish with cinnamon and/or orange/lemon slices for added flair. Serves up to 8. Please enjoy all alcohol based recipes responsibly (age 21 and over in Texas).

As the weather gets colder during this holiday season there is nothing quite so soothing as a mug of hot chocolate. As a child you may have sipped many hot cocoas before bed on Christmas Eve. At Fossil Creek Liquor we believe that all of the wonder of childhood continues well into adulthood and that includes our love of hot cocoa. For the adults of the house (21 and up) we have a cocktail twist on that traditional hot cocoa. This year try Prancer’s Hot Cocoa while you assist Santa with his Christmas Eve tasks.

Ingredients:
1 package of hot cocoa
1 oz. Potter’s peppermint schnapps
½ oz. Potter’s dark crème de cacao
¼ oz. Potter’s crème de menthe
Whipped cream (for topping)
1 York Peppermint patty for garnish
1 candy cane for stirring

Instructions:
Pour 1 ounce of Potter’s peppermint schnapps, ½ ounce Potter’s dark crème de cacao, ¼ ounce of Potter’s crème de menthe into a coffee mug. Add a full serving of hot cocoa and stir well with a candy cane. Cut a slit into a York peppermint chocolate and place it on the rim of the mug. Top the drink with whipped cream and serve hot.

This year turn your New Year’s toast into the dessert of the year with Fossil Creek Liquor’s New Year’s Float. This unique New Year’s cocktail is quick, easy and delicious.
Happy New Year from Fossil Creek Liquor!

Ingredients:
1 teaspoon of the fruity sorbet flavor or your choice.
We are fond of cherry, raspberry or strawberry sorbet
Chilled Champagne or Prosecco (Italian Sparkling drink)
Garnish to taste (be creative!)

Instructions:
Place one scoop of sorbet into your champagne flute and fill with chilled champagne or prosecco. Add garnish and serve!
